Former NFL star says Comic-Con better than playing in a playoff game

National television. Packed stadiums. A week worth of hype. Simply put, it doesn't get much bigger than the NFL playoffs.

Unless it's Comic-Con.

Wait, what?

Ahman Green, the all-time leading rusher in Green Bay Packers history, has played in some pretty big games during his NFL career. For four straight seasons with Green Bay from 2001-04, Green's Packers teams made the playoffs each year and hosted their share of games at legendary Lambeau Field. But for a self-proclaimed comic book geek, going to a convention center with wall-to-wall super heroes beats out playoff football.

Yup, a 12-year NFL veteran says that his love for comic books - “I'm a big-time obsessive Batman fan” - trumps the goosebumps of the playoffs. Damon Amendolara of CBS Sports Radio asked Green whether the playoffs or Comic-Con in San Diego was more exciting.

Oh, my God, that’s a good question, man,” Green said on Amendolara's show. “I would have to say going to Comic-Con. I’m that much of a fan. I know the hard work and dedication, the blood sweat and tears and the pleasure of winning the game. I won a few playoff games and almost came to the Super Bowl a couple times in the playoff runs we had as Packers. But I think experiencing that with my family, we’ll be able to experience it every year and we don’t have to go through a first-round bye; we don’t have to worry about trying to get to the NFC Championship. We just got to buy a plane ticket. I think that experience is going to be No. 1 on my list because I get to experience it every year with my family.”

Green is really into the superhero scene. The Omaha World-Herald reported in May that Green would appear in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" playing "Thug No. 2."

"I said this years ago," Green told the World-Herald. "I said, 'Look, all I want to be is a fly on the wall in a Batman movie.' And I am that fly on the wall."

"I have no lines. I don't care. I saw Ben Affleck in a Batman costume. Life is done, I'm good."

Lambeau is a special place come playoff time. But Green loves "The Caped Crusader" and Comic-Con even more. That's dedication.
