Erin Andrews, Stacey Dales try to survive sideline assignments in frigid Green Bay

GREEN BAY, Wis. – If you haven't heard, it was really cold here.

The Packers and 49ers played "Ice Bowl 2" on Sunday and one of the big stories was the weather. It was awful. Health officials were advising people in Wisconsin to stay inside. The temperature just before kickoff was five degrees and the wind chill made it seem much worse. Fans bought tickets to voluntarily be out in the elements for the 49ers' 23-20 victory, and others like Fox sideline reporter Erin Andrews were out there as part of their jobs.

Andrews wasn't messing around in preparation for her assignment.

Andrews, who is from Florida but grew up a Packers fan, brought a small sporting goods store with her to stay warm.

NFL Network's Stacey Dales was prepared for her report on the NFL Network's pregame show. The network's crew set up an ice shanty to help keep warm when they weren't on camera. Here's Dales and her audio supervisor during her spot:

About half of the Packers went through pregame warm-ups without long sleeves, and so did many 49ers including quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Andrews rightfully thought they were nuts.

"Speaking of the weather, Randall Cobb says he has no fear in going sleeveless today," Andrews said on Fox before the game. "I absolutely think he's crazy because I have about 80 layers on and I'm still cold. Guys? Enjoy the studio!"
