Zelensky Holds Meetings with NATO Leaders at Vilnius Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met heads of state, including UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, on the fringes of the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, on July 12.

The Ukrainian leader held talks with Sunak, as well as other G7 leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and the Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Speaking on Tuesday at the NATO public forum, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told the audience that he expected allies to reaffirm that Ukraine would eventually accede to the alliance.

Zelensky posted a frustrated statement on social media on the same day, pointing to the reluctance of the 31 member states to agree a timetable for Ukraine to be admitted into NATO.
