LIZ LOZA: He's, he reminds me so much of Dak Prescott, how he was underestimated. I think he has a lot of the same, like his toughness that you mentioned, and just a lot of the same energy, a lot of the same ethos around him. And also on the field, I see some definite overlap. The toughness, the mobility, the arm. I think that when Dak Prescott has been working behind up until this year obviously when he was injured, one of the best defensive lines in the country.

ERIC EDHOLM: Right.

LIZ LOZA: And some people might argue the same about Fields behind Ohio State's line. And so I think when you look at those two, there's a lot of overlap.

ERIC EDHOLM: Absolutely. I mean, it was hard for me to not notice some of the similarities between Dak's ascension in college, when Dan Mullen was having him do a lot of read option stuff. You know, it was like the Tim Tebow playbook. But then his senior year I felt like what got so overlooked, was the jump he made as a passer. So it came a little bit later for Prescott than it did for Fields, but still, right?

I mean, the point is, he made this big noticeable improvement as a thrower, throwing with confidence, on target, giving receiver room to run, putting it where the defender can't get it, all those little things in terms of accuracy. I saw a lot of those same progressions over the last two years with Fields. But the other name that I threw in there was Cam Newton.

And a scout had mentioned to me, he said, he's like little Cam in the sense that, you know, Cam has that kind of funky arm delivery. It's a little awkward if you're not used to it, right, when you first saw him back in 2011. He's just a smaller version of him obviously. But the same kind of thing, like yeah, Cam's fast, but he's not going to necessarily outrun everybody on the field. What makes him so hard as a runner is he's tough as heck, right, you can't tackle him. So there are some overlaps to both guys that I think make some sense.
