Why isn’t Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda getting more exposure despite their dominance?

Yahoo Sports’ Jay Busbee discusses the two most ascendant players in golf today and why they aren’t household names.

JAY BUSBEE: No sport tells and retells its historical legends quite as often as golf does, whether we're talking about Arnie's army in the 1960s, Jack Nicklaus in the '70s and '80s, or Tiger Woods in the 2000s. And right now, we're living through a historical moment similar to those, even though it might not feel like it, on two separate tours.

First of all, you've got Scottie Scheffler, winner of the Masters a week or so ago, who has now gone 1, 1, T2, 1, 1 in his last five tournaments, and he's not even the hottest golfer on the planet right now. That would be Nelly Korda, who over her last five tournaments, has gone 1, 1, 1, 1, 1. That's an incredible couple of runs on two separate tours.

So why aren't they getting more notice? A couple of reasons. Let's break them down.

First of all, Scottie Scheffler, by all accounts, is pretty much the nicest guy on the PGA Tour, the kind of guy who would bring you a couple extra burgers to the cookout just to make sure that no one goes hungry. That's a great attribute to have in a friend, maybe not what you want to see in a world champion golfer that the world is trying to rally around. Plus, the fact that golf is still torn apart by the LIV Golf PGA TOUR dispute has turned off a whole lot of fans.

Now, over at the LPGA they have historically struggled with a similar fan base, and they haven't had a transformative Caitlin Clark-like figure to rally around. Could Nelly Korda be that Caitlin Clark-type figure, it's possible, but we'll have to see. Now, I would tell you to pay attention closely to this moment while at last, but considering how talented Scheffler and Korda, this moment might last for quite a while.
