Whit Merrifield 'seems to find himself in the middle of everything' for Blue Jays

Whit Merrifield has been on base in every game he's appeared in for the Blue Jays in 2023. Manager John Schneider explains what makes him a key piece of Toronto's lineup.

- John, a lot of production from six through nine in the batting order tonight. How important is it to have those contributions up and down the lineup?

JOHN SCHNEIDER: Yeah, I think those guys that-- you know, Kirky with the walks, obviously a huge homer for Cav, KK had great at bats, too. Whit seems to find himself in the middle of everything. Yeah, whenever you can do that and kind of turn it over to the top, it's a good thing.

- Yeah, Whit's been on base every game this season. What's working for him right now?

JOHN SCHNEIDER: He's a good player. I think just being in there pretty consistently. He's-- I've said it before, he does a lot of things that help you win, not just what he does in the box. But he's feeling good. I think we're kind of seeing the player that he's always been.
