The Two-Minute Drill | Bye Week Blues in Week 14

In this week's edition of the Two-Minute Drill, Yahoo Sports’ Andy Behrens explains why having six teams on a bye in week 14 is not great for fantasy managers as they gear up for a playoff push.

ANDY BEHRENS: I'm Andy Behrens at Yahoo Sportsbook. This is the Two Minute Drill, and the clock is running. Why am I still dealing with bye weeks? What is this nonsense?

- I'm in a glass case of emotion!

ANDY BEHRENS: Listen, I've seen the Week 14 byes looming on the player pages all year, right? Every time I look at Justin Fields, Aaron Jones, Jonathan Taylor, Alvin Kamara, Terry McLaurin, the bye has been sitting out there, but way out there in December. It was easy to put it out of mind. It's not as if this thing is blindsiding me.

- Oh, I don't think I'm a lot dumber than you thought that I think that I thought I was once.

ANDY BEHRENS: But now that it's arrived, what the [BLEEP] are we doing, NFL? Who is this helping? Not the teams that waited 13 weeks for some time off, that's for sure. We've got teams that are already mathematically eliminated, and others that are practically eliminated just now getting their bye weeks.

What kind of wild disadvantage is this? Over the previous two weeks, we had only two teams with byes. Two! They could have sorted this out earlier. It actually doesn't seem too difficult to take care of all these byes in the middle weeks of the season, in October, November. These December byes are outrageous. It is too little and it is way too late.

- Eh!

ANDY BEHRENS: As much as anything, this kind of feels like an attack on the fantasy community. It is not as if the NFL itself doesn't know that it's a must-win week in our game. With00 we got postseason seedings on the line. We've got some deep leagues. I've got a six-team teamer that are actually trying to start their playoffs, right now, Week 14 with six teams on bye.
