Two days after the debate, Trump condemns white supremacists and Proud Boys

Almost 48 hours after the first presidential debate, President Trump called into ‘Hannity’ to clarify some comments he made at the event. When challenged to condemn white supremacist groups and alt-right group Proud Boys, Trump simply said “Proud Boys, stand down and stand by.” On Thursday, Trump told Sean Hannity, “I have to say, I've said it many times, let me be clear again, I condemn the KKK, I condemn all white supremacists, I condemn the Proud Boys. I don't know much about the Proud Boys, almost nothing, but I condemn that.”

DONALD TRUMP: I made a statement that was, according to most, it was a perfect statement. But I've said it so many times even beyond that.

KYLIE MAR: President Trump called into "Hannity" Thursday night to clarify comments he made during Tuesday's presidential debate concerning white supremacist groups and the Proud Boys.

DONALD TRUMP: I'm willing to do anything. I want to see peace.

CHRIS WALLACE: Well, then do it, sir.

JOE BIDEN: Say it. Do it. Say it.

DONALD TRUMP: You want to call them-- what do you want to call them? Give me a name. Give me a name.

CHRIS WALLACE: White supremacists and [INAUDIBLE].

DONALD TRUMP: Who would you like me to condemn?

JOE BIDEN: Proud Boys.

CHRIS WALLACE: White supremacists and--

DONALD TRUMP: Proud Boys, stand back and stand by.

KYLIE MAR: Trump's failure to condemn white supremacists and violent alt-right groups was the biggest headline from the debates. And the next day, when he was asked by the press to explain his comments, he claimed he didn't know who the Proud Boys were. But on Thursday, almost 48 hours after the debate, he was ready for another crack at condemning the hate groups.

DONALD TRUMP: I have to say, I've said it many times and let me be clear again, I condemn the KKK. I condemn all white supremacists. I condemn the Proud Boys. I don't know much about the Proud Boys, almost nothing, but I condemn that.
