Simone Biles secures gold in vault final, continues Olympic dominance

Yahoo Sports' Shawn Johnson recaps the women's gymnastics vault final, highlighting Simone Biles winning gold, Rebeca Andrade taking silver, and Jade Carey securing bronze.

Video Transcript

Sean Johnson with Yahoo Sports coming from the vault final and yet again, Simone Biles one gold, I will say a couple of things and mental notes that I noticed right before Simone went for her double pike, the hardest vault in the entire world.

I noticed her coach kind of gesturing to her at the end of the runway to calm down and almost like slow down and take it easy during the warm up.

She over rotated it so much, meaning she had more power to give which is baffling to me that her coach was like take it easy.

She ended up landing it almost perfectly and you could just see the beaming smile on her face and she came in first to rack up those medals.

Second Andrade coming in close again, edging her way closer and closer to Viles, which Vile has said is making her nervous.

Um but coming in second beautiful competitor.

She was beautiful in the all around and again in the vaults and then coming in third Jade Carey, she looks back to normal.

She said on social media during the qualifiers that she wasn't feeling herself maybe under the weather but now she's back, she looked beautiful, a near perfect second vault and cinched the bronze.

So two more medals for the US, for more women's gymnastics news.
