Matt Murray raises eyebrows after getting caught wiggling net

Maple Leafs goaltender is once again under the spotlight after being caught adjusting the goalposts during Toronto's 6-2 win over the Flyers. It's not the first time this season Murray has been accused of purposefully loosening his net in order to knock it off its posts when the Leafs need an advantage and the NHL is now on notice.

- It's been a while since I've talked about Matt Murray and his goal posts. There was a stretch where it seemed like every game that Matt Murray was in, something was going on with the goal post where he pushed off on the side, the goal would go off. And, you know, the other fans of teams were kind of getting annoyed by it. You know, one of the big times that happened was in a minute-- was in the afternoon game in Minnesota. And just recently it happened again against Philadelphia.

Now, it seems like the league is taking a look at it. Apparently, you know, Matt Murray and some other goalies around the league are kind of "points of interest" or "points of focus" about of goalies who kind of knock goal posts over a little too easy. Now, I thought the whole thing was funny. You know, like, now, are there moments where Murray probably has pushed the goalpost off on purpose? Yeah.

There have been some moments where the Leafs just ice the puck-- ice the puck, they're exhausted. They could use a couple of extra seconds of rest. And I think Murray kind of, you know, pushed a little harder on the post. Now, do I think he's doing it like consistently to the point where it looks like it might be like cheating? No, I don't think so. And I think that's like bias Leafs fan goggles either.

But I don't know, I just think it's kind of funny that the league-- that the league is willing to look into this but we don't know what goaltender interference is, we don't know, you know, what exactly an offside is. There are a whole bunch of things that the league can fix, but we're gonna focus on Matt Murray? I don't know. I thought it was funny. But, hey, it's not the first time the Leafs have been fined for doing something "different."
