How much is Pierre-Luc Dubois worth to the Montreal Canadiens?

Pierre-Luc Dubois appears to be heading for the exit in Winnipeg but if Montreal is the star centre's destination, how much are the Canadiens willing to pay for a player who wants to play in his home province?

Video Transcript

JULIAN MCKENZIE: We should get to just some offseason stuff really quickly. You know, Pierre-Luc Dubois, he might not be in Winnipeg too much longer. Mark Scheifele.

OMAR: Stop it. He might not-- Stop it. He might not? Come on. Stop it. He gone!

JULIAN MCKENZIE: Is Dubois, like, the trade story where, like, that's, like, the big one for us, because, like, the free agent class looks kind of boring, no disrespect, but, like, Pierre-Luc Dubois, Alex DeBrincat, like, is there a particular trade story you're kind of, like, waiting on, like, more than-- Dubois is it for me, as far as I'm concerned, considering he probably should have been gone a long time ago.

OMAR: For me, it's not really where he goes. It's how much he makes. I'm fascinated to know what his contract is going to be, because there are rumblings going around that he may want something with a nine in it, which is baffling to me. Like, what have you done--

JULIAN MCKENZIE: Crazy! You want to make almost as much as Matthew Tkachuk does?

OMAR: No. No. So that's what I want to see. And I want to see, if it ends up being Montreal, I hope that they use that to their advantage, and this is like, hey, he wants to come to us. So if the Jets really want to try to maximize the most out of the deal, which they should, I wonder what it'll end up being, considering the dynamics of it all, and, again, what he eventually makes, once the trade is done.

JULIAN MCKENZIE: I want to see Connor Hellebuyck get moved. I want to see the Jets move on from Connor Hellebuyck and see him go to a good team. Like, I want to see-- I mean, I get it, you don't need the goalie, you need a goalie, but I still would like to see some team kind of swing for the fences and make this move for a goalie who's still in their prime, who's still a Vezina-caliber goalie, in order to kind of put them in a position where they could go for it. Like, I would love to see Connor Hellebuyck, who doesn't seem as if he wants to commit to an extension with the Winnipeg Jets, play for a different market. Avery, is there another trade story you're looking at?

ARUN SRINIVASAN: I mean, I want to see where Carter Hart goes, because we've seen Carter Hart's name in trades. I want to see who ends up with him. And I've also heard rumors of Travis Konecny being connected to Edmonton, for, possibly, Philip Broberg. So that could be an interesting move, if we do see Broberg going to Philly for Travis Konecny.

JULIAN MCKENZIE: That would be really interesting. Sam, we'll give you last word on this one. With trade stuff, is there any story you're particularly focused on?

SAM CHANG: I want to see what trades Patrik Allvin can make to bring the Canucks within the cap, because they're going over.

JULIAN MCKENZIE: JT Miller!

SAM CHANG: Projected cap hit, $84,168,750 for the Vancouver Canucks.

OMAR: How?

SAM CHANG: Great question.

JULIAN MCKENZIE: Darnell Nurse for Quinn Hughes, come on down.

OMAR: I mean, man-- Also, last thing, very quickly, Leafs fans, chill. Touch grass. We are in the Leafs fans, touch grass era. So, every time I scroll through Twitter, I'm seeing, oh, the Leafs need to trade Brody. We need to trade Liljegren. We need to trade-- Chill. That's what I want the Stanley Cup to just be announced, so we can finally get into the actual offseason, man, because, jeez! Jeez!

JULIAN MCKENZIE: Yeah, you mean the offseason, when Auston Matthews signs a two, three-year deal?

ARUN SRINIVASAN: Julian, man, can we not--

JULIAN MCKENZIE: That's going to do it for this Monday edition of the "CJ Show"-- sorry, not the "CJ Show." That's for another network. That's going to do it for this week's edition of "Zone Time," here on Yahoo! Sports.
