Mexico's Popocatepetl Volcano Lights Up Night Sky

Ash and smoke were seen rising from Mexico’s Popocatepetl volcano on May 23 after two moderate eruptions were recorded on May 22.

This timelapse was recorded by Nicola Rustichelli of Webcams of Mexico and shows multiple angles of the volcano from fixed cameras, with incandescent emissions lighting up the night sky. and thick ash clouds.

Mexico’s National Center for Disaster Prevention issued a yellow, phase-three warning following the eruptions, urging people to avoid the volcano “due to the danger of falling ballistic fragments.”
