Last year, the Toronto Maple Leafs had one of the most potent power plays in the NHL, before it fell off a cliff in the playoffs. This season, the team's first unit of Taveres, Nylander, Marner, Matthews and Rielly as failed to spark, despite the addition new assistant coach Spencer Carbery, hired to run plays with with the man advantage.
