KIMBERLÉ CRENSHAW: There are some people who think that we are postcivil rights. We are postfeminism. And therefore, we're postintersectional. I can't come close to thinking we're post anything as long as we look around the social terrain. And we can pretty much predict who's going to be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company and who's going to clean the office. When we can predict who is going to be incarcerated for chemical dependency and who's going to get a chance to go to a posh center to become unaddicted.

When we can predict who's going to graduate because they are a legacy admit, not because they are most qualified from an elite institution and who's going to not get a chance to go to college at all. When we can predict what immigrant is going to be welcome to this country and what immigrant is going to be detained and have their children taken away from them. When all of these things are predictable, we can imagine who they are. And most of the time, we are right. I can't see how we're post anything. And I can't see how we can possibly think we're done.
