DAN TITUS: We're at the midpoint in week 3, and I have a few waiver pickups that I think are going to be valuable for the rest of this week and headed into week 4. But before we get started, I'm Dan Titus, Yahoo Fantasy basketball analyst. Right as I started recording, news dropped that James Harden is going to be missing a month of basketball due to a foot injury. Make sure De'Anthony Melton is not on your waivers in 10 to 12 team points or head to head leagues. He is the must add from this news.
Getting into it a little bit deeper, Jalen McDaniels, 48% rostered in Yahoo Fantasy leagues. The injuries continue to mount for the Charlotte Hornets, and Gordon Hayward left Thursday night's game with shoulder soreness. He was not able to return. So that just opens up more minutes for Jalen McDaniels, who's already been thriving.
He's 73rd in per game value right now, averaging 2.1 stocks, great source of 3's, but then also can score the basketball and rebound well. He's a must add for me in 12 team head to head leagues, mainly because the Charlotte Hornets play two games to close out this week on Friday and Saturday. But then they have four games going into next week in week 4.
The final player that I'm going to be picking up is Lonnie Walker of the Los Angeles Lakers. Right now, Lonnie Walker just came off a 28-point explosion in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night. His rostership's already gone up 8%. Right now, it stands at 43. He needs to be over 50% rostered. He's averaging over 35 minutes per game this season, and his confidence seems to grow by the game.
The Lakers play two games to close out this week on Friday and Sunday, and they have four games going into week 4. So he's going to be a great source of points, 3s, steals, and blocks from the guard position. He is a must add in 12 team points and head to head leagues.
