Eagles' trade up for DeVonta Smith 'stabilizes' Hurts’ fantasy value

Yahoo Fantasy analyst Matt Harmon examines the impact of Alabama’s Devonta Smith joining the Eagles’ receiving core, after Philadelphia traded up to No. 10 to select him.

MATT HARMON: Love the Kyle Pitts pick by the Atlanta Falcons. It's probably going to be one of the most fantasy favorable picks in the entire first round of the NFL draft. Number 1, this offense, which is already being captained by one of the best offensive coaches in the NFL. And Arthur Smith, who made the Titans one of the most efficient offenses in football the last couple of years, just got another huge boost here with Kyle Pitts, who, by all accounts, is a super talented prospect who's going to step in right away and be a transformative talent at the tight end position.

This is a unit that already has Matt Ryan, already has Calvin Ridley. I'm going to say they're probably still going to have Julio Jones this year, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he does end up get traded.

Either way, it's a huge boost for the Falcons offense as a whole. And for Pitts, himself, listen, tight end is a mess. There's so many bad options out there. At this point, even though he's a rookie-- rookies have a bad history at the tight position-- get that out of here. I don't need to hear comparisons about Kyle Pitts, and TJ Hockenson, and Eric Ebron, and all these guys.

Much better player. At this point it's going to be tough to keep Kyle Pitts out of like a top 5 to 8 tight ends when you're ranking for fantasy this year. That's how excited we should be about this guy.
