Deer Swim Through Flooded Backyard in Florida's Seminole County

A deer and a fawn were captured swimming through a flooded backyard in Oviedo, Florida, as Hurricane Ian approached on September 28.

Oviedo resident Meradith McGee said her daughter, Carter Hale, recorded this video of the deer outside of their home, located roughly eight miles south of Lake Jesup.

Speaking to Storyful, McGee said a creek on the edge of her property, which is usually “just a trickle”, swelled to over seven foot as the hurricane approached.

Heavy rain, flash flooding, and gusty winds are to continue on Saturday as Ian, now a post-tropical cyclone, moves inland over North Carolina and Virginia, according to the NHC. Credit: Meradith McGee via Storyful
