Could Tom Brady finally be a fantasy bust in 2022?

In the Yahoo Fantasy Football Forecast, analysts Andy Behrens and Scott Pianowski examine the Bucs quarterback's potential to have a late-career fantasy letdown.

SCOTT PIANOWSKI: Do you think Brady is a pretty safe pick, or you think there's a chance he could go Peyton Manning on us, Weekend at Bernie's season?

ANDY BEHRENS: I mean, I would say that, except that I first said that like five years ago, you know. That was the point I was making when he was merely 40. I was like, hey, there's not a history of good 40-year-old quarterbacks outside of Brett Favre and one other season. And so watch out. It could be the end at any moment. And here we are, four or five years later, and Tom Brady is coming off a 5,000-yard season, and he's surrounded with talent and--

But the issue and the reason that it's-- the Peyton Manning question is pretty much unanswerable is that, you know, Peyton Manning was an absolute Iron Man, invulnerable to injury, until he wasn't, until something really happened, right. And then, you know, at a certain age, you know, you and I know this. We're ancient people. You hurt something, and it hurts for the rest of your life, right. Almost everything I've hurt since I turned 40 I can still feel at some point on some day, right.

And so that's basically what happened with Manning. You get a cascade effect with injuries. I feel like it happened with Drew Brees as well.

There was, I mean, there was a game late in a pretty great season late in his career where it was a Falcons game. And he came out of it dinged a little bit, and just never, you know, and basically was done for the end of that season. Never really threw the ball downfield ever again in his NFL career.

So I do feel like Brady's-- Brady's probably like one injury away from maybe not getting back to the level at which he is right now. But, you know, until that happens, the guy's a wizard. The guy's an absolute sorcerer.
