'I can confidently say that we know what happened and why: Marshall Fire cause, origin revealed

Boulder County Sheriff Curtis Johnson says the Marshall Fire originated as two different fires: One was the result of disposed scraps of wood that were set ablaze by residents on Dec. 24, when conditions were cool and damp, but which was reignited by strong winds on Dec. 30. The second fire, approximately 2,000 feet south and west of the first fire, was most likely caused from hot particles discharged from an Xcel Energy power line.
