Bronny James commits to USC
Yahoo Sports’ Krysten Peek breaks down the decision to sign with the Trojans.
KRYSTEN PEEK: Bronny James is headed to USC after a recruitment that was kept completely under wraps. The oldest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James never commented on any schools throughout the process and took only one known unofficial visit to Ohio State last fall. The 6 foot 2 guard was one of the most improved players from his junior season to his senior season in high school and not only jumped the national rankings, but he was also named a McDonald's All-American and selected to play for Team USA in Nike Hoop Summit, two of the highest honors for high school seniors.
The top guard in the senior class Isaiah Collier also participated in both All-Star games. And he and James were teammates. Throughout practices and the two games, Collier and James began to build their on-court chemistry. And Andy Enfield and staff should be excited for the young duo coming in.
Collier is a pass-first hard-nosed guard, while James is a good outside shooter, connecting on 5-8 from 3-point range in the McDonald's All-American Game. Bronny averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals during his senior season at Sierra Canyon High School and won the Mission League title in three of his four years on the team. James is staying close to home. And USC fans can expect to see LeBron and the rest of his family sitting courtside at games next year.
