Blue Jays manager John Schneider addresses Aaron Judge's 'odd' glances at dugout

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was caught glancing toward his dugout numerous times during an at-bat in the eighth inning, then proceeded to hit a home run. It certainly raised eyebrows for the Blue Jays.

- John, I'm not sure if you had a chance to see this yet, but the broadcast captured Aaron Judge glancing to the side during his at-bat in the eighth inning. Typically wouldn't be a spot where he'd be glancing just before a pitch comes. I'm wondering if you had a chance to see it. Any thoughts on what that could potentially be?

JOHN SCHNEIDER: Yes, and kind of odd that a hitter would be looking in that direction. He's obviously looking in that direction for a reason. And I think dive into it a little bit more tonight and tomorrow, and see that-- just make sure that we're doing everything that we're doing or everything that we can to not make ourselves susceptible to tendencies, or location, or pitches, or anything like that. But it was, yeah, kind of odd to see him looking over there right before a pitch came.

- Have there been in the past any time you guys have picked up on him looking like-- looking in that direction, to the side?

JOHN SCHNEIDER: No. First time we've seen that.

- Had you seen other players do that, or would this be completely atypical for anybody to do that?

JOHN SCHNEIDER: Yeah, I haven't spent a whole lot of time looking at hitters' eyes right before they get ready to swing. We have a lot of different camera angles, but first time that it was pretty clearly brought to our attention like that.

- John, would there be a reasonable explanation as to why he would be looking in that direction?

JOHN SCHNEIDER: I'm not the caliber hitter that Aaron Judge is and never was, but you know, he's obviously looking somewhere besides the pitcher for a reason at that point in time in his at-bat. So you'll have to ask him.
