WWE performer Paige may no longer be used an in-ring talent following her latest injury. WWE reportedly told Paige she would not be allowed to return to the ring on Monday, according to PWInsider.com.

The 25-year-old, whose real name is Saraya-Jade Bevis, injured herself during an event in Long Island in December. While gesturing toward the crowd, Paige was kicked in the back by Sasha Banks. Paige struggled to get back to her feet initially, and immediately fell back to the mat after trying to stand. That prompted the referee to call for medical professionals on site.

The injury was initially thought to be a stinger, and Paige was even set to wrestle at WWE’s Royal Rumble event at the end of January. But WWE decided to do a more thorough examination given Paige’s injury history, prompting their decision. Paige had three screws inserted in her neck during a surgical procedure in 2016.

Paige could still continue to work with WWE even if her in-ring career is over. She’s well liked in the company, and could transition to another role, according to PWInsider.

While Paige will not be allowed to wrestle going forward by the company, we are told that she is extremely well liked by management, so one would think she would remain with the company in some capacity. She was featured on reality series Total Divas, so that’s a possible vehicle for her, as are WWE Studios feature films. It’s also possible the company could tap her to Coach in the NXT system or attempt to transition her into another on camera role.

Paige debuted with WWE in April of 2014, winning the WWE Divas Championship in her first match. She would go on to win that title a second time that August.
