I think we can all agree that owning at least one pair of jeans has become a universal standard. I am on a constant hunt to find comfortable, well-fitting jeans that won’t fall a part. Since plus-size women come in all different shapes and sizes, there are a lot of body types that need to be represented on the curvy spectrum, so finding the right fit can be tricky.
If you have heavier thighs and a smaller waist, denim can often create a large gap in the back at the top. If you have petite frame and are curvy, inseams can be too long, creating an unwanted drop-crotch situation.
With my denim, I need something with stretch for both fit and mobility. On an average day in New York City, I am constantly running in and out of the subway, jumping from meeting to meeting, and I need something that will keep its shape. My body is middle heavy with a smaller bottom, and I often find that the denim that fits my legs is too tight at the waist and vice versa. For this reason, I am always looking for a solid pair of stretch denim that will snuggly fit my bottom but can also stretch to accommodate my midsection for a comfortable, great-looking fit.
Feeling lost in the denim department? Have no fear! I asked nine of my fashion blogger friends to share their current favorite plus-size denim picks that don’t gap or fade and work with their specific type of curvy bodies — and I included my own go-to jeans.

Margie Ashcroft: Torrid
Margie Ashcroft, Margie Plus
For the last few years, my go-to denim has been Torrid jeggings. I love the brand and style because they are full stretch and keep their shape after multiple wears. I have not had any of my Torrid denim ever tear or wear through from use. I have the jegging style in five different variations and can say that each style fits my size 18 frame consistently. They look great with a denim jacket for a more casual look or paired with heels and a glitzy top for a night out.

Jessica Torres: Eloquii
I try not to have my body shape limit me from what I can wear. I am currently obsessed with Eloquii’s denim fringe culottes. They are soft to the touch and comfortable for all daywear. I’ve been told constantly that I shouldn’t wear them since they don’t “flatter” my body but these jeans are more about the statement they make.

Valerie Eguavoen: Simply Be
Valerie Eguavoen, On a Curve
My go-to jeans are a high-waisted skinny pair. I’ve always been super tall, so finding the right pair of jeans to fit both my waist and my legs were a struggle growing up. Simply Be has become one of my favorite brands to shop for plus-size jeans. I tried these on and immediately fell in love with the fit and design. They are so stylish, and they hug my curves in all the right places. The fit on a pair of skinny jeans can make or break your outfit, so I always look for the perfect balance between the waistband and the fit along the thighs and calves. I love this particular pair because of the distress detail and trendy patchwork.

Katie Sturino: Good American
Katie Sturino, The 12ish
Jeans have always been really tough for me because of my straight frame but NYDJ saved me for the most part. When Good American launched, I did a little dance knowing that I was getting more options! For white jeans…they are my go-to brand. The jeans have stretch, which is really hard to find in white jeans! For any other color I shop NYDJ and have for years. They are literally the only reason I have been wearing pants since college.

Kellie Brown: Eloquii
Kellie Brown, And I Get Dressed
My go-to jeans are usually a combination of quirky and trendy. Right now I’m living in these high-low hem two-tone jeans from Eloquii. I love these jeans because they are so cool. The fit is perfect (size range is 14 to 24), the denim is super soft, and they have very little stretch so they don’t turn into baggy jeans after a few hours of wear.
Blocked Jeans, $90, Eloquii
Alexandra Thomas: Kut from the Kloth
Alexandra Thomas, Learning to Be Fearless
My favorite go-to jeans have to be these Reese stretch pair of denim from Kut from the Kloth. Never have I stepped into a pair of jeans and felt more at home. These have the perfect amount of stretch while still feeling like solid jeans. I don’t have a classic hourglass figure, and sometimes jeans tend to have more fabric around the hips than I need, but these hug me just right. They make the booty pop! I love the lift these jeans give, and they’re super trendy. Great for spring. I can dress them up or down and still feel like I’m super stylish.

Manon Edwards: Fashion Nova
Manon Edwards, Chic With Curves
I have a big crush for Fashion Nova jeans. I discovered the brand a few months ago and since then, they are my go-to jeans. I’m a really picky girl when it comes to my comfort. I prefer to wear stretch denim to handle my curves, but not too much either because I don’t want it to overstretch out. I am looking for jeans with some support so I can ditch the Spanx. I have curves and my jeans have to help me taking care of my curves and showing the best side of them! I am tall and I like to have some details on it as fringes at the ankles! I love the fact that these Fashion Nova jeans are classic and I can wear then with a lot of tops, tunics, and jackets.

Kelly Augustine: NYDJ
I’m a diehard NYDJ girl, through and through. I got my first pair of their Amy cut last year and they’ve become my go-to for figure hugging, well-fitting denim for my hourglass frame. NYDJ denim is insanely soft, ridiculously soft. With my curvy, bottom-heavy figure, I am always left with a gap in my waist; I don’t have that issue with NYDJ. The length is perfect, and they have just enough stretch to hug my curves perfectly while providing support. Love, love, love them!
Amy Skinny Legging In Sure Stretch, $144, NYDJ
Sara Sapora: Torrid
Sara Sapora, Sara Plus Life
The Torrid Premium Stretch Jeggings have the perfect proportion for my body. Every piece of the jean sits where it should be sitting on my body! I am short, petite, and curvy, which always makes it a challenge to find jeans that work for me. The length and rise are always too long, and the leg and ankle opening is never narrow enough for me. These jeggings are very thick and don’t feel, or wear, like traditional jeggings do. The rise is perfect, they don’t gap, and the extra-short length (they come in extra-short through tall!) means I get a perfectly cropped style that works for dressy or casual looks.
Curvy Jeggings Light Wash, $65, Torrid
Natalie Johnson: Charlotte Russe
Natalie Johnson, Shameless Creature
I have recently fallen in love with jeans from Charlotte Russe. I am a sucker for denim with a little stretch and give. In addition to comfort, these jeans are so trendy! I have been obsessing over the step-hem and frayed style for a while, and it’s been so nice that the trend is now available for women my size. These jeans are my current obsession for a number of reasons. Again, comfort is crucial for me. Considering the traveling/flying aspect of my lifestyle, it is so important that I am dressed appropriately. Versatility is also something that I look for in my wardrobe. I need a pair of jeans that will compliment different settings. I believe that denim is essential in every closet but denim that makes a statement is my favorite.
