Yahoo Sports Thunder players at Oklahoma City mall during shooting were ‘never in danger’
Thunder players were at the Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City on Thursday while a shooting took place, however they were not in any danger, according to The Oklahoman.
The team was at a private movie screening at the mall when gunfire broke out after an incident between two people inside a Foot Locker, per the report. One man allegedly shot another person in the chest.
“Thunder security was made aware immediately,” a team spokesman said, via The Oklahoman. “The team was never in danger and was safe during the entirety of the event.”
Oklahoma City police described it as an “isolated incident,” though the gunfire sparked mass panic at the mall. The victim was transported to a local hospital, and police are still searching for the suspect.
UPDATE - Suspect described as black male, grey sweatpants, red underwear exposed above pants, no shirt. Was seen fleeing from area of Foot Locker, but unknown where he went from there. Still working to clear the mall. Continue to avoid the area.

The Thunder were off on Thursday following their 126-122 win against the Memphis Grizzlies at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday. They are set to host the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.
It’s not clear what movie the Thunder were at the theater to see, however Steven Adams was seen walking out of the mall after the shooting holding a replica R2-D2 from “Star Wars.”
