‘If Zlatan said it’ – Guardiola responds to Ibrahimovic’s comments on Walker
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has responded to Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s comments regarding the potential signing of Kyle Walker.
There are a lot of different stories circulating at the moment with regards to what January business Milan might do. Above all, it seems like Walker is on the way in from Manchester City, with the Marcus Rashford idea shelved.
Speaking to DAZN before Milan’s game against Juventus on Saturday evening, Ibrahimovic was asked if it is true that the club are looking at Walker, and his response certainly didn’t deny it.
“Everyone knows he is a great player, he played for Tottenham and the England national team. When there is a player like Walker on the market there is a lot of interest,” he said.
“He doesn’t go against our strategies. He is strong, he is a leader, he dominates the dressing room. We are checking what is possible and what is not possible.”
Guardiola was in an understandably happier mood last night as his side routed Ipswich 6-0 away from home to respond after a difficult period, and after the game he was asked about what Ibrahimovic said.
“Did Ibrahimovic say he likes Walker? If Zlatan said it, well… he said it. Kyle can play anywhere!” he said (via MilanPress).
Milan are pushing ahead with the deal and news is expected in the coming days, especially given that Walker has been left out of the squad entirely for City’s last two games.
