Zirkzee and De Ligt in from the off: Confirmed United line-up to face Liverpool as Ten Hag makes 3 changes
Manchester United are undergoing their final preparations at Old Trafford ready for this afternoon’s 4pm kick-off vs Liverpool.
Erik ten Hag has named a starting 11 that he believes is capable of overturning the Merseyside outfit while bouncing back from last week’s deflating defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.
Heading into the international break on the back of two straight losses would leave a sour taste, given United have a 13-day wait before they’d be able to make amends against Southampton.
Nonetheless, the manager has opted to make three changes to his side today; we knew he’d be forced into at least one due to Mason Mount’s fresh injury setback.
Ten Hag makes three changes across the board
Amad Diallo – despite scoring United’s only goal of the game at the Amex – has been replaced by Alejandro Garnacho, with Marcus Rashford, perhaps surprisingly, keeping his place.
New recruits Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt are making their first starts, the latter of which has been picked ahead of Harry Maguire. Meanwhile, Zirzkee is the only fit centre-forward at Ten Hag’s disposal.
