A highly-regarded up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona will imminently commit his long-term future to the club.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Toni Fernández as the player in question.

Fernández, for his part, is a 16-year-old attacker, who has long been making waves in La Masia.

Despite his tender years, the Spaniard spent this past season lining out for Barcelona’s U18s, an established international at U17 level, too.

Recent word doing the rounds in the media that Fernández was giving consideration to a new adventure, as a result, no doubt came as a source of concern for all of a Blaugrana persuasion.

A whole host of leading clubs across Europe are understood to have expressed an interest in his signature, with the likes of Manchester City and Juventus having gone as far as to put contract proposals before the youngster.

As alluded to above, though, such offers, evidently, failed to sufficiently convince Fernández of the merits of moving on.

Having taken his place as the very youngest player in the pre-season setup of new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, instead, the attacker has opted to stay put.

As per Sport:

‘Toni Fernández turns 16 today, and the player from the Zona Franca is expected to sign his first contract with Barça tomorrow until June 2027.’
