Young Kraken Forward Likely To Be Scratched With Brandon Tanev's Possible Return
Seattle Kraken forward Tye Kartye will likely be scratched tonight against the Los Angeles Kings with the possible return of Brandon Tanev.
Tanev missed the Kraken's 2-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday due to an illness. The 32-year-old has played in 44 games this season, scoring eight goals and 15 points. HC Dan Bylsma has announced Tanev as a game-time decision but if today's lines at practice are any indication, Tanev will step into the lineup for Kartye and play alongside Mitchell Stephens and John Hayden.

Kartye will miss his fifth game of the season if he is indeed scratched. Playing in 42 games, the 23-year-old has scored just three goals and six points, averaging 10:18 of ice time and accumulating a -13 plus/minus.

After an encouraging rookie season which saw him post 11 goals and 20 points while being a physical force on the forecheck, expectations for Kartye grew but he hasn't been able to elevate his game. The physical element of his game is still on display nightly but the offence they were hoping would come along with it has not.
Viewing tonight's game from the press box could be beneficial for the Kingston, ON. native. Bylsma has used this tactic on Shane Wright and Oliver Bjorkstrand and has received positive results. Hopefully, for Kartye he sees similar results. With no goals in his last 16 games or points in his last 14 games, something needed to be done to help Kartye turn things around.
