Amber Sabathia, CC Sabathia's wife, announces new career as baseball agent
Amber Sabathia has been has been a baseball wife for almost 20 years, and now with her husband CC Sabathia retired, she's starting the next phase of her life.
Sabathia announced on Monday that she's joined CAA Sports as their newest baseball agent.
Sabathia explained on Instagram why she feels like becoming a sports agent is the right move for her, and why she believes she'll succeed:
"Having a front row seat alongside CC's career throughout the past two decades provided me with critical insight and experience in business, marketing, and philanthropy. I recognize my unique ability to support, advise, and lead all facets of the process with players and their families. After considering my options, I know through the support of the team at CAA Sports, I will be able to fulfill my potential and help shape the next generation of great athletes."
Sabathia has been with CC since high school, and has been by his side through his entire career. She was with him in his early days with the Cleveland Indians, as he dealt with success as a young man. She's seen him have success with multiple teams, eventually making his way to the New York Yankees and earning a World Series ring. She's also seen him deal with failure, helping him through a difficult period when he checked himself into rehab for alcoholism.
The couple, who married in 2003, have four children together. Following CC's retirement after the 2019 season, they collaborated with HBO to produce "Under the Grapefruit Tree," a documentary about CC's life.
With Sabathia moving into a new career, CC said on Twitter that he's moving into "full-time dad mode" — though apparently he plans to do it from the golf course.
I’ve dedicated my whole life to the game of baseball. Nobody has been more supportive and influential than @ambersabathia. So proud of this next chapter for you. If you need me, I’ll be in full-time dad mode on the golf course with some Js on 🤣🤷🏾♂️. She’s built for this!! pic.twitter.com/kqYMDB0FXh
