Xavier Worthy Reveals the Chiefs Have a Team Group Chat — but It Has a Secret Name (Exclusive)
The Chiefs rookie exclusively tells PEOPLE about the "fun environment" his teammates built in Kansas City
The Kansas City Chiefs stay connected — on and off the football field!
Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy exclusively tells PEOPLE that the NFL's defending champions — who are looking to make history with a three-peat this season — keep in touch with each other on their days off through a team group chat.
In fact, just before signing on to Zoom for his interview with PEOPLE about partnering with DICK'S Sporting Goods, 21-year-old Worthy was "just on the game with them," he says.
"We all have a group chat, we get on the game, be chill. We just be chilling, really," Worthy says of his Kansas City teammates. "And we in the facility cracking jokes," Worthy continues. "It's fun. It's a fun environment."
Worthy is keeping the Chiefs' group chat name under wraps, however. "I can't even say that group chat name," he says with a laugh.

Playing alongside Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in his rookie year is an "amazing" opportunity, Worthy tells PE0PLE. "Oh man, we've played in so many close games and they're just so calm through it all," he says of the Super Bowl champs.
"They're just really good with everything, all the situations," Worthy continues.
"They taught me a lot of poise. Just have poise and be comfortable with what you trained for. Everything you trained for is going to come in the game and it's going to be an opportunity. You have to do it and you have to fulfill what you did in practice and bring it to the game."
And through his partnership with DICK's Sporting Goods, Worthy is able to give back to Chiefs Kingdom through the Holiday Shopping Sprint. "DICK's gave me the opportunity to do more stuff for the community, give stuff to them that I couldn't get when I was a kid," he says.

In October, athletes in the Kansas City area were asked to share with DICK’S how winning a home delivery from the Chiefs rookie would bring speed, ease and unforgettable cheer to their holiday season.
The winners — Tanisha and her 8-year-old son AJ, and Molly from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City — were each given $2,500 at DICK's to curate their dream holiday gift list, which Worthy then swiftly shopped and delivered to their homes.
"Oh man, it was cool," Worthy says of the opportunity. "They were super excited, and it just warms my heart just to be able to give back to them."

And Worthy hopes he can continue to spread the holiday cheer with DICK's back home in Fresno, California.
"I mean, as a kid, I didn't have a lot growing up, so just seeing kids and being able to give back to them and seeing a smile on their face and taking a little bit of pressure off their parents shoulders is amazing."
