Xavi and Iniesta set to reunite for Legends El Clasico in Japan
After the thrilling 2-2 draw in the first El Clasico of Legends in Qatar, a report from SPORT confirms that Barcelona and Real Madrid will face off once again in Japan.
The highly anticipated second edition of the Clasico of Legends will take place in the early hours of Sunday morning at the Ajinomoto Stadium in Tokyo.
This exciting match will feature some of the biggest footballing icons, including the legendary duo of Andres Iniesta and Xavi Hernandez, both of whom have made unforgettable marks in football history.
Xavi and Iniesta together… Again
Iniesta, who retired this season at the age of 40, will once again pull on the Barcelona shirt, marking a special return to the field.
Xavi, the former Barcelona coach, has decided to take a break from his managerial career but will join Iniesta for this remarkable match. Their partnership on the pitch is sure to bring back memories for football fans worldwide.
It is said that ahead of the match, both teams trained at the stadium on Saturday, with around 2,000 fans present to watch the players in action.
Furthermore, the stadium, which holds 48,000 seats, has sold out, promising an electric atmosphere for this historic encounter.
Who else will play?
The FC Barcelona Legends team will be managed by Albert Ferrer and will feature a star-studded lineup, including Iniesta and Xavi, along with other well-known players.
The latest addition to the team is Rafa Marquez, a player who has also left a significant legacy at Barcelona. The likes of Rivaldo, Sergi Barjuan, Nolito and Saviola among others will also be there.
Meanwhile, in addition to the exciting match, Barcelona’s Legends team will take advantage of their time in Japan to engage with their global fanbase. They are scheduled to play a friendly match with supporters from Japan and Shanghai.
The Legends will also visit the Barça Academy in Yokohama and Katsushika, where they will meet young footballers from the academy and give them a chance to interact with some of their football idols.
