Wycombe Wanderers have signed centre-back Anders Hagelskjaer from Norwegian club Molde.

The 27-year-old Dane spent two seasons with Molde, making 73 appearances, and played in the Champions League for them.

He is the second defensive recruit by Wycombe since the January transfer window opened, following the arrival of Sonny Bradley on loan from Derby County.

"We're really excited to have Anders at the club and to have someone with recent experience of playing European football coming in to help us build on the progress we've already made this season," said Chairboys manager Matt Bloomfield.

"The data model demonstrates that he will be a really shrewd signing and it's brilliant to recruit a player of his stature to strengthen our chances of achieving success for this football club."

Despite Tuesday's 1-0 home defeat by Huddersfield Town, Wycombe are second in League One, just two points behind leaders Birmingham City.

Hagelsjaer had a medical earlier this week and the club are awaiting a work permit, but no details of any transfer fee or his contract have been disclosed.

He began his career at FC Midtjylland and played for Danish Superliga side Aalborg prior to joining Molde, where he won the Norwegian Cup in 2023.

"Anders has been a superb performer in domestic and European football for Molde, and although their season came to an end a month ago, he is an excellent athlete who will be able to quickly recapture match sharpness and strengthen our defensive options going forward," said Wycombe's chief football officer Dan Rice.

Wycombe are in FA Cup action on Friday evening with a home third-round tie against Championship side Portsmouth.
