Yahoo Sports WSL: Brighton edge out Bristol City in 3-2 thriller
A five-goal thriller saw Brighton take all three points from newly promoted Bristol City at the Broadfield Stadium. The Seagulls headed into Sunday’s clash with eight points on the table while Lauren Smith’s side had taken just five points so far this season.
An Elisabeth Terland brace and a goal from Katie Robinson secured a big three points for Brighton. Bristol City remain at the bottom of the WSL table but are level on points with West Ham following their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

How it went
Terland opened the scoring with just over half an hour on the clock. Snatching the ball from a failed pass, the Norweigan international slotted the ball into the bottom of Shae Yáñez’s net. Just 14 minutes later, Abi Harrison restored the deadlock, beating Sophie Baggaley on her line.
Bristol City’s joy however was short-lived as Robinson put the hosts back in the lead just two minutes later.
Carrie Jones brought the tie back level with just seven minutes of regulation time remaining. Just as it seemed the visitors had snatched a vital point, Brighton grabbed a late winner through Terland. The No.11 fired the ball into the top corner deep into injury time to secure all three points for the hosts.
The Brighton defeat leaves Bristol City sitting at the bottom of the Super League with just 11 games left to play. Brighton, meanwhile finished the weekend sitting eighth in the table having taken 11 points from the first half of the campaign.
Up next
Brighton will face Charlton away in Wednesday’s League Cup round of fixtures. The Seagulls will then embark on a difficult run of league games that will see them face Chelsea and Manchester United before an away day to Wolves in the FA Cup.
Bristol City will welcome West Ham to Ashton Gate before back-to-back away days in the WSL. A trip to Aston Villa will be followed by a meeting with Willie Kirk’s Leicester.
