Wranglers Welcome Back Kerins

On Monday morning, the Calgary Flames announced that AHL All-Star Rory Kerins would be returning to the Calgary Wranglers.

After Connor Zary got injured on Jan. 7 against the Anaheim Ducks, the Flames called up Kerins on Jan. 10. At the time of his promotion, he was leading the Wranglers in scoring with 34 points in 34 games.

During his time in the NHL, he made an immediate impact, picking up two assists in his first game. The 22-year-old finished his first stint with four assists in five games, last skating on Jan. 23 against the Buffalo Sabres.

The Flames were 3-2-0 with Kerins in the lineup. Meanwhile, the Wranglers went 5-4-0 in his absence. Dryden Hunt overtook him for the team lead in scoring, bumping his numbers to 40 points in 39 games.

Kerins and the Wranglers don’t play again until Saturday, Jan. 31, when they travel to Abbotsford to play the Canucks. Calgary remains the top team in the Pacific Division with 58 points while maintaining their spot atop the AHL, one point ahead of the Hershey Bears.

As an AHL All-Star, Kerins will play in the annual classic on Feb. 2 and 3 at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, CA.
