Wotton hails his table-topping Torquay United side
Paul Wotton his hailed his Torquay United side after they went top of National League South following a 2-0 win over Farnborough.
The Gulls sealed victory in the opening minutes as Will Jenkins-Davies scored his fourth goal in the last three league games to give Torquay a fifth-minute lead.
Jordan Young made it 2-0 just two minutes later as Torquay ensured the visitors would not get a goal in front of more than 3,000 fans at Plainmoor.
The victory, coupled with a loss for previous leaders Truro City and a draw for Weston-super-Mare, saw the Gulls go a point clear at the top of the table with Boreham Wood up to second place.
"We couldn't have had a better start," Wotton told BBC Radio Devon.
"It wasn't just the two goals, it was our intensity and our football.
"Our play in the first 15-20 minutes I thought was fantastic at times, and then the game changes because Farnborough are a good team and you saw a different side of us.
"I think James Hamon had one save to make in the 96th minute, I thought our defensive display was top class."
