You Won't Believe Why Connor Hellebuyck Is Guaranteed to Stay NHL’s Top Goalie

The schedule for the 2024-25 NHL season was released with many experts and analysts picking apart certain games and trends that could create storylines. The Hockey News's Carter Brooks broke down the Jets schedule for the upcoming season and presented an excellent case for another stellar season from Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck.

"Winnipeg has the fewest back-to-back contests of all clubs this coming season (eight)," Brooks said in the recent article "This statistic bodes extremely well for reigning Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck, who thrives off a high workload."

Brooks goes on to predict that a season with 65 or more starts out of Hellebuyck isn't far fetched. It's also worth noting that the Jets picked up more than one backup netminder in free agency, which means they will likely play Hellebuyck more often if they find instability at the backup position.

Hellebuyck has currently the third-highest odds at +700 to repeat as Vezina Trophy winner on Bet365 and is listed at -115 for his over/under 32.5 goalie wins on DraftKings Sportsbooks.

He could also come close to finishing with the most goalie wins this season after falling short of Colorado's Alexandar Georgiev by just one win. Heading into this season, Hellebuyck has higher odds than Georgiev to finish with the most wins but both trail seven other netminders with Edmonton's Stuart Skinner as the favorite.

All Hellebuyck bets except the Vezina Trophy future should be in play. This is one we can look to monitor but don't put any serious money on it yet as no goaltender has repeated as Vezina Trophy winner since Martin Brodeur did it twice in 2004 and 2008.
