Wolves vs Liverpool: Preview, predictions and lineups

Liverpool will aim to keep pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City when they visit Wolves in Saturday's evening kick-off.

Gary O'Neil's side have made a largely wretched start to the new season, with their only win coming in the Carabao Cup before they were knocked out of that competition by Brighton & Hove Albion. They were also beaten 3-1 by Aston Villa last time out.

The Reds, meanwhile, continued to enjoy their positive start under new manager Arne Slot by thrashing West Ham United 5-1 in the Carabao Cup. With Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo all among the goals recently, Saturday presents a monstrous challenge for Wolves and O'Neil.

Here's 90min's preview of this clash in Gameweek 6.

Wolves were dealt a large blow in defence recently with Yerson Mosquera now set for a long stint on the sidelines due to a knee injury. He joins Boubacar Traore, Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez and Bastien Meupiyou as unavailable for Liverpool's visit.

Toti Gomes faces a late race to be fit in time to feature, which could leave Santiago Bueno partnering Craig Dawson in central defence.

Liverpool team news

Goalkeeper Alisson has missed Liverpool's last two games with a hamstring blow, with Caoimhin Kelleher filling in between the sticks. However, manager Slot has revealed the Brazilian is likely to be fit to start at Molineux.

His return will be a boost, but Harvey Elliott is the only other player who'll definitely miss out due to fitness issues. Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are among the players expected to come back into the starting XI after the win over West Ham.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Wolves (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez.

Wolves vs Liverpool score prediction

Wolves are really up against it at the moment. Their winless start to the league campaign has left the Wanderers in 19th in the Premier League table, conceding a joint-league high of 14 goals alongside basement boys Everton.

Contrastingly, Liverpool have only been outscored by Manchester City and Chelsea so far and have a number of in-form options in attack to turn to whenever necessary. With the hosts also looking a bit short at centre-back, Slot's side may be licking their lips at the prospect of a visit to Molineux.

The Reds have been clinical in the final third in their last three games, scoring 11 goals, and it could be another feast for Salah and company on Saturday night.
