🇩🇪 Wolfsburg dig deep to see underwhelming BVB crash out of DFB Pokal

Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund continue to struggle in the opening months of the 2024-25 season after a frustrating 1-0 loss at VfL Wolfsburg in Round 2 of the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday.

Wolfsburg would fire a warning shot early in extra time after substitute Thiago Tomás struck the bar inside three minutes into bonus football, but neither side could find the breakthrough at Volkswagen Arena in the first stanza.

Ramy Bensebaini temporarily spared Dortmund blushes 10 minutes from the end of extra time when the Algerian did just enough to deflect Jonas Wind’s goal-bound header just wide of Gregor Kobel’s goal.

Die Wölfe finally found the upset goal less than four minutes from full-time thanks to the aforementioned Wind with a cool finish under pressure after Marcel Sabitzer failed to deal with a loose ball in the box.

The result consigns Dortmund to its fifth-consecutive defeat away from home this season as pressure continues to mount on Şahin.
