Wojciech Szczęsny breaks silence amid mounting Barcelona links
Widely-rumoured Barcelona target Wojciech Szczęsny on Wednesday briefly broke his silence, regarding his links with the Catalan giants.
The name of goalkeeper Szczęsny has of course proven an altogether prominent one in the Spanish media over the course of recent days.
This comes amid the widespread understanding that the Pole has been identified as a leading transfer target on the part of the aforementioned Barcelona.
Following the long-term injury suffered by no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen, the Camp Nou brass have been left with little choice but to dip into the free agent market, for reinforcements between the posts.
And it is Szczęsny’s profile which appears to be of most intrigue to Deco and co, the 34-year-old just last season having played a prominent role for a leading European club, in Juventus.
Technically retired after coming to the decision to hang up his gloves over the summer, ‘Tek’ may require some convincing to sanction such a swift return to the pitch, though.
In turn, when drawn on the subject of a potential Barcelona switch by Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday, the shot-stopper was keen to keep his cards close to his chest:
”I just hope that Marc recovers soon,” Szczęsny began. ”He is a good friend and a great goalkeeper and I wish him the best. That’s the only thing I can comment on.”
