Witness: I don't like Aaron Hernandez's 'arrogance'

FALL RIVER, Mass. – Kasey Arma was the 100th witness called thus far by the prosecution in the murder trial of former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez.

Ostensibly, the 27-year-old woman was brought here to claim that Hernandez seemed "agitated" when they interacted at a Boston nightclub in the early morning hours of June 15, 2013 – two days before Odin Lloyd was killed.

The Commonwealth has suggested that Hernandez was upset with Lloyd that night at Rumor nightclub and has claimed that as a motive for the shooting. That concept is still tenuous, and Arma's opinion on the mental state of a man she had briefly met in a loud club really didn't add much to it.

More likely, Arma's main purpose was to testify about Hernandez hitting on her, dancing with her and even propositioning her, another attempt to portray him to his fiancée, Shayanna Jenkins, as someone who doesn't reciprocate loyalty.

Jenkins has yet to flip on Hernandez. She has been given an immunity deal, if she's called to testify, that will clear her of not only pending perjury charges stemming from her grand jury testimony, but of anything that she may reveal on the stand. This will prohibit her from invoking her right to remain silent against self-incrimination.

As such, she will be compelled to testify or face contempt of court charges and likely be jailed by Bristol County (Mass.) Superior Court Judge E. Susan Garsh.

If she does testify, the prosecution will be looking for Jenkins to shed light on the whereabouts of what it believes is the murder weapon.

Jenkins was seen on home security carrying a garbage bag out of the couple's North Attleboro, Mass., home. She has said it contained some baby clothes and a "box," the contents of which she said she doesn't know. She said she threw the bag in a dumpster but can't recall where that is located.

She could potentially seal Hernandez's fate.

Thus far, Jenkins has remained devoted to Hernandez, though the Commonwealth keeps giving her reasons not to be and Arma is the latest.

In this instance, while Jenkins was home with the couple's baby, Hernandez was at a nightclub, using a fake name "Rock" and tapping the woman on the hip to get her attention.

"He told me that I looked good," Arma testified Thursday. "He asked if I could dance with him. … He was pretty pleasant. … He was charming."

Arma claimed Hernandez asked her to dance for – and with – him, pointing to "my back end."

"[He said], 'Show me what you can do with that thing,' " Arma said.

She seemed to oblige. On surveillance video from inside the nightclub she is seen dancing provocatively with him, often grinding on his midsection.

"What kind of dance is that called," defense attorney Michael Fee asked on cross.

"I don't know if it has a name," Arma said with a laugh.

Arma said Hernandez was trying to get her to go back to a nearby hotel with him. While the two eventually separated in the club, Hernandez later whistled at her outside and tried to talk to her again, Arma said.

"He suggested leaving and going to the W [hotel]," Arma said.

She declined and said she was eventually turned off by his attitude.

"I don't like his arrogance," Arma testified.

This is the second woman the prosecution has had testify about Hernandez making advances on them on the night in question. After leaving Rumor that night, he ran into Jennifer Fortier, a babysitter for his daughter, and took her and a friend to an apartment he rented in the suburbs. Lloyd was also along for that ride.

Fortier testified that she and Hernandez kissed in a bedroom that night but she rejected going further and left.

Does any of this matter to Shayanna Jenkins? Does the fact that her boyfriend was out trying to pick up women register when he's been charged with three homicides in two different incidents?

Thus far she's only occasionally attended court here, but when she has shown up she has sat on Hernandez's side, smiling and briefly conversing with him during breaks. He's mouthed, on multiple occasions, "I love you" to her.

No one knows for sure if Thursday's testimony will prompt Jenkins to flip on her fiancé, but 100 witnesses into the trial and the prosecution still seems to be trying.
