With Western Michigan still undefeated at 10-0, #MACtion is getting some much-deserved love from “College GameDay” this week.

ESPN’s famous Saturday morning pre-game show is setting up shop in Kalamazoo this week ahead of No. 21 WMU’s game against Buffalo at Waldo Stadium on Saturday. It’s a big deal when GameDay comes to town for any school, and the excitement is amplified for a mid-major program like Western Michigan.

Predictably, folks around town are preparing accordingly. One local business, Bottoms Up Snacks & Spirits, is preaching responsibility. Well, sort of.

Too funny.

This is the first time Western Michigan is hosting the show and the second time for any MAC school. Coincidentally, the first time involved P.J. Fleck, too. Fleck, who is in his fourth season as the Broncos’ head coach, was a wide receiver for Northern Illinois in 2003 when NIU visited Bowling Green.

WMU president John Dunn praised Fleck this week for trying to put the spotlight of GameDay’s visit on the city of Kalamazoo.

From Mlive.com:

“I think it’s great for obviously the university and the community,” WMU President John Dunn said Wednesday.

Dunn said Kalamazoo’s time in the limelight will allow visitors and people throughout the nation tuning in on Saturday to learn about the city and the university. Wallace praised Fleck for putting the spotlight on the community. “P.J. Fleck doesn’t always just take the credit,” he said.

During the Broncos weekly press conference, Fleck took a moment to encourage people to come out and visit the city of Kalamazoo.

“This is not for P.J. Fleck, this is for you,” Fleck said at the press conference. “That’s what’s cool about this.”

Saturday’s game kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
