Winnipeg's Nikolaj Ehlers Passes Former Islanders Forward Frans Nielsen To Become NHL's All-Time Highest Scoring Dane
For years, former New York Islanders forward Frans Nielsen was the highest-scoring Danish player in NHL NHL history.
He no longer holds that title.
Earlier on Sunday, Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers tallied an assist to tie Nielsen's record before scoring an empty-net goal to take sole possession of first place:
Empty net goal for Winnipeg!
Scored by Nikolaj Ehlers with 02:45 remaining in the 3rd period.
Assisted by Mark Scheifele and Vladislav Namestnikov.

Nielsen, now 40, finished his NHL career with 473 points in 925 games, 167 goals, and 306 assists.
He spent his first 10 NHL seasons with the Islanders before signing with the Detroit Red Wings in July 2016. He retired from the NHL after the 2020-21 season.

Nielsen is famous for his patented backhand breakaway move, which has brought the Islanders much success in the shootout for many years.
Ehlers was involved in trade rumors this past summer, with the Islanders interested in the winger. He remained in Winnipeg, where he has helped the Jets to a hot start this season.

New York is back in action at UBS Arena on Tuesday when they play host to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
