Winnipeg Jets Look to Extend Winning Streak to Eight When Taking On Calgary Flames Saturday

The Winnipeg Jets continue their road trip with a stop in Calgary to take on the Flames. The Jets are looking to continue their seven-game winning streak while the Flames aim to stay hot as well as they've won five of their first seven games to start the season. Winnipeg has won 15 straight regular season games dating back to the end of last season but have a troubling record versus Calgary as of late.

The Flames have won five of their last eight matchups versus the Jets with the last three games all totalling seven or more goals. The Jets speciality is keeping games low-scoring and beating teams with their impeccable defence that is tied for first in goals against average at 1.86 so far this season. Their offence shouldn't be forgetten as well as they rank second in goals per game with a 4.43 average.

Calgary has surprised many this season with their potent offence that ranks ninth in goals per game with a 3.57 average, highlighted by defenceman Rasmus Andersson, who may be putting in an early bid for the Norris trophy as he's recorded three goals and six assists for nine points through seven games. Andersson has a goal and four assists for five points over his last six games against Winnipeg, which makes him one to watch on the Flames end.

His efforts have helped make an impact on both ends of the ice with the Flames defence having the ninth-best goals against average at 2.71 this season. Their duo of Dustin Wolf and Dan Vladar have allowed 19 goals this season which is better than the likes of the Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Ottawa Senators. However, the Jets one-man show of Connor Hellebuyck between the pipes has them beat, allowing just 10 goals over six starts this season. The expected matchup between Hellebuyck and Wolf will be a rare one as both netminders sport undefeated records at 6-0-0 and 3-0-0 respectively.

The Jets hope to get on the board with the help of Kyle Connor, who has a stellar record versus the Flames with a pair of goals and four assists for six points over their last five matchups. Connor and linemate Mark Scheifele have started off the season red hot with a combined ten goals through the first seven games.
