Former Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha could be sanctioned by Olympique Lyonnais, as per reports.

In recent weeks, United’s recent transfer strategy has come under fire for selling the likes of Scott McTominay and Alvaro Carreras.

The Scotland international has quickly established himself as a fan favourite in Napoli while United continue to struggle in the middle of the park. Meanwhile, Carreras has done so well at Benfica that it is being reported that the Mancunians are among a number of top clubs keen on signing him.

When the Red Devils parted ways with Zaha in 2015, they received similar reactions, not least because the then highly-rated talent was Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing at Old Trafford.

Zaha enjoyed a good spell at Palace before moving to Galatasaray in 2023. Now, he is on loan at Lyon — a move that has proven to be nothing short of a nightmare.

The Ivory Coast international moved to the Ligue 1 this summer, but has only managed to get two appearances from Lyon manager Pierre Sage so far.

The situation at Lyon appears to have gone from bad to worse for the 31-year-old, with a report from RMC suggesting he could now be sanctioned by the club.

It is claimed Zaha failed to show up for training the day after Lyon’s win over FC Nantes before the international break.

This unjustified absence could now allegedly lead to Lyon sanctioning him.

There are also question marks over his involvement against Le Havre this Sunday.

However, no decision has been taken yet, and it is understood that improvement has been noted in his behaviour in training since the incident.

The Ivorian most recently faced his former club United in the Champions League last season. Starting for Galatasaray in the first of the two matches, Zaha scored in the Turkish outfit’s 3-2 win at Old Trafford.
