The Shawinigan Cataractes have acquired forward Yoan Loshing from the Moncton Wildcats in exchange for a 2026 second round pick and a 2026 third round pick.

Loshing, 20, had 32 points (13+19) across 32 games with the Wildcats this season, donning the 'C' for the second season. Loshing has spent all of his four and a half seasons in the QMJHL with the Wildcats -- who drafted him 13th in the 2020 draft. He has 215 points (106+109) across 217 career games.

He'll join the Shawinigan Cataractes and he'll be a key part of their offense and playoff push, no doubt.

Loshing is yet to have secured an NCAA commitment, and isn't affiliated with an NHL program.

The move leaves the Cataractes with four overagers, and thus also a decision to make. I'd imagine Louis-Philippe Fontaine has played himself into his role with 34 points (12+22) across 36 games, however things get tricky on the back end. Do they keep the long-term Cataractes blueliner Isaac Menard (5 in 15), or the recently acquired Antoine Michaud (9 in 32)?

As for the Wildcats, this move demands more questions than answers. By opening up an overager slot with this move, Moncton will look to fill that spot as soon as possible.

A name that's circled around is Tampa Bay Lightning prospect defenseman Dyllan Gill, who has been with the AHL's Syracuse Crunch this season -- registering four points (2+2) in 24 games.

Translation: "As far as I am hearing, 20-year-old Dyllan Gill of the AHL's Syracuse Crunch will return to the QMJHL and will be traded from the Huskies to the Wildcats, Monday. Gill is from Riverview, New Brunswick. #ToFollow"

Gill missed the majority of last season with the Huskies with a shoulder injury. Although, should they pry him away from the Crunch and Huskies (via trade), he could be a really solid option on an already stacked blueline.

Assuming Gill is the guy for the Wildcats, this would mean that barring a trade of anyone in their d-corps, Simon Mullen (13 in 33) is the likely odd man out.
