The NHL and the Minnesota Wild have postponed Monday’s game against the St. Louis Blues following the fatal shooting by a police officer that killed Daunte Wright, a Black man, in Brooklyn Center on Sunday.

NHL PR released this statement regarding the postponement:

"The National Hockey League and the Minnesota Wild today announced that tonight’s game between the Wild and the St. Louis Blues has been postponed. The decision was made out of respect for the community, following the tragic shooting that occurred in Brooklyn Center, Minn., Sunday afternoon.

"The game has been rescheduled for May 12 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul," the statement reads.

"The National Hockey League extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Daunte Wright."

Wright, 20-years-old, was fatally shot on Sunday during a traffic stop by a female police officer just miles away from where George Floyd was killed by police last May.

The Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Timberwolves also postponed their games on Monday. The Twins were scheduled to play the Boston Red Sox while the Timberwolves were scheduled to play the Brooklyn Nets. There hasn’t been any announcement yet on when those games will be played.
