Wild Place Marcus Johansson On Injured Reserve With A Concussion

ST. PAUL - Injuries have been a common theme for the Wild recently. But the last two injuries have been the most frustrating.

Brock Faber got hurt 35 seconds into a game against the St. Louis Blues after Jake Neighbours elbowed the Wild defender in the head while trying to get the puck.

Faber missed the next four games with an upper-body injury (head) after Neighbours elbowed him in the face. Neighbours did not receive a penalty on the play and did not get a fine or a suspension for his hit that kept Faber out for four games.

On Thursday the Wild played the Edmonton Oilers. In the second period, Connor McDavid stuck out his elbow right into Marcus Johansson's jaw. He instantly fell over and had to be helped off.

Johansson will miss some time with a concussion. Referee Chris Lee, who was watching it happen, told Joel Eriksson Ek and head coach John Hynes that Johansson hit himself in the face with his stick.

McDavid was not given a penalty on the play. He was not fined or suspended either.

Johansson, 34, has now been played on the Injured Reserve with a concussion. Liam Ohgren was recalled from the Iowa Wild and will take Johansson's spot on the second line.
