Wichita Eagle honors best of high school boys track and field on 2024 All-Metro team

The Wichita Eagle announced its annual All-Metro boys track and field team on Tuesday, recognizing some of the best high school athletes in the state of Kansas from the 2024 season.

The All-Metro features the top sprinters, distance runners, hurdlers, relays, jumpers and throwers and the top coaches from Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties based heavily on postseason results.

Andover Central senior pole vaulter Bryce Barkdull and Trinity Academy senior distance runner Clay Shively shared the honor of Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

2024 WICHITA EAGLE ALL-METRO BOYS TRACK AND FIELD TEAM

Bryce Barkdull, Andover Central senior

State finish: 17-2, champion in 5A pole vault.

Isaiah Blackwell, Augusta senior

State finish: 6-8, champion in 4A high jump; 22-2½, champion in 4A long jump.

Micah Campbell, Bishop Carroll senior

State finish: 16.10, champion in wheelchair 100; 58.64, champion in wheelchair 400; 4:23.49, champion in wheelchair 1600.

Dejuan Colbert, Southeast junior
