Nicolas Jackson was one of the stars of the early season for Chelsea before other big names started to crowd him out.

However he was back in the headlines on Saturday, scoring the opening goal and then assisting Enzo Fernandez’s late game-sealer. Speaking to Chelsea TV after the game, the striker was positive as always, and hinted at even bigger things to come from his team:

“It was a good performance, we’re just happy to get the three points,” Jackson explained.

“It’s just the beginning, the season has only just started. The target is to win every game, try to fight for the team, score and get three points in every game,” the striker continued.

Jackson was also asked for a little more detail about his goal, which really showed off his strong suits – pace, strength, hard work and determination, as well as a great bit of skill to finish with a flick of his boot:

“For my goal, I saw the defender had anticipated my move so I needed to be quick and I know the goalkeeper is good so that’s why I tried to finish as soon as possible. I’m happy here – I’m happy with my friends and my teammates. I’m trying to help the team each game.”

Jackson ready to feast and help Chelsea announce themselves as a team to beat

Jackson now gets a full week’s rest until we take on Aston Villa next Sunday. The striker is right – it’s still early in the season. But we’ve yet to beat a top team in the league, and a vulnerable Aston Villa who can’t find a win right now would be our biggest scalp so far.

If we pull that off and cement our place in the top 3, people will really be taking notice of us.
