Paris Saint-Germain loanee Carlos Soler probably understood that he needed to depart the capital club this summer to pick up regular minutes. After witnessing Spain win UEFA Euro 2024, the 27-year-old likely wants to be on La Roja’s radar again.

Soler was linked to various clubs during the summer transfer window, but on the final day of the window, the Spaniard went on loan to the Hammers. After numerous days of reports suggesting that a deal would be done, it was finalized at the last minute.

Some might ask why Soler had his heart set on joining West Ham. According to The Athletic, Lopetegui eagerly pushed for the PSG midfielder’s transfer this summer.

Soler was believed to be also excited about the prospect of playing under his fellow Spaniard, who previously managed both Spain’s national team and Real Madrid.

The former Valencia standout considered his options largely based on the chance to work with a coach of Lopetegui’s caliber. Given that the Irons brought in 10 players during the transfer window, their new manager impacted the market.

During the 2023-24 season, Soler played 26 games across all competitions for the French club, scoring one goal and providing four assists.
